How You See Me, How You See Us

How does AI see us? Does it see us in the way that we do? This project is a real-time interactive installation, making AI a portrait painter, asking them to draw the pictures of us in front of the camera in their ways.

This project is initiated to communicate with AI, a human-made and algorithm leads intelligent. To see how do they understand us as humans on the Earth, to compare what is the difference between real life and digital world, to see the world in another vision.

The program is able to recognize the objects using webcam, then put recognized labels as prompt input to the AI text-to-image generation, recreate pictures of the view in front of the camera in an AI vision.

AI is acting as a painter, who we could communicate with, and who is able to express their thoughts. As Maggie mentioned in the project octopus artificial intelligent project [1], machine vision is the co-evolution of human perception and artificial intelligence, and the expanding sensory experience collaborating with digital imaging tool sand the unknown. Machine vision has grounded connection with the present, while having the uniqueness of unexpectable from complex algorithms. AI is receiving, transforming, and creating. There is uncertainty and reality that are close to human as well as expanding and reflecting us as humans.

The machine learning is a process of absorbing and expressing. Comparing with the human approaches of expressing, the machine learning absorbs the complexities from the real environment, the creativities and randomness come from the environment, while “this intelligent behavior don’t require conscious” [2].
